What information do we collect?
We collect your personal information as part of the recruitment process to evaluate your application, communicate with you, improve services and operations, and for other operational, legal, and compliance purposes. Here are some examples of the personal information we collect:
- Identifiers and contact details, such as your name, address, phone number, or email, and account identification information for the application portal when you contact us and apply for a job on our website. We may also collect a government-issued ID in certain circumstances related to your hiring — but please only provide government-issued identification information if we request it.
- Online activity, such as your IP address when you browse our website.
- Employment-related information, including information about your professional experience and education, such as your academic background, employment status, work history, references, or resume. We may also collect information during the reference checks you provide as part of your application or from recruitment agencies.
- Audio, electronic, or visual information when you communicate with us during your application or interview process.
- Demographic information, such as age, gender, and family status, and a personal or family affiliation with RONA Inc.

What are the sources of collecting your information?

Information we collect from other sources
- Identification information. We may collect your contact details from affiliated companies and RONA bannered independent dealerships, acquired businesses, RONA Inc. business partners, as well as from public sources or other individuals when you apply for a job.
- Professional, academic, or employment-related information. We may collect information about you from recruitment agencies or former employers during the reference checks you provide when you apply for a job. With your consent, we may also collect information about you from background check agencies and from entities listed in your resume.
Information collected by automated means
We collect information by automated means online and offline. When you use our website to apply for a job, RONA Inc. may collect certain information using cookies and other technologies. How do we use your personal information?
We use your personal information for various business purposes, including to:
- Communicate with you, including to communicate with you via various channels about information regarding the recruitment process and your application, evaluate and respond to your requests and applications when you apply for a job, and inform you about other positions that may suit you and consider you for them;
- Manage the recruitment process, including to establish and maintain records related to recruitment and hiring; identify and evaluate your application, including assessing your skills, qualifications, and interests; verify your information and conduct employment, background, and reference checks, if applicable; and analyze and improve our application and recruitment process;
- For other legal, compliance, and security purposes, including complying with and enforcing applicable legal requirements, industry standards, and our policies and terms, such as our General Terms of Use, assisting law enforcement authorities, and responding to regulatory requests; and detecting security or privacy incidents, protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activities, and prosecuting those responsible for such activities.

How do we share the information?
We may share your personal information with non-affiliated entities with your implicit or explicit consent or as required or permitted by applicable laws. Specifically, we share your personal information to evaluate your application and to comply with data protection requirements.
Service providers and affiliated companies
We may disclose your personal information with your consent to companies that provide us with various services to help us manage the recruitment process, including, but not limited to, obtaining employment and background verification. These companies may need access to information about you to perform their functions and services. Additionally, we may disclose your personal information with your consent to RONA bannered independent dealerships as part of the recruitment process. If we do not hire you at the end of the recruitment process, we may also disclose your personal information to RONA bannered independent dealerships with your consent.
Legal, enforcement, security, and investigation
We may disclose information about you (1) if we believe we are required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process, such as in response to a court order or subpoena; (2) if we deem it appropriate or necessary in response to requests from government agencies, such as law enforcement or tax authorities; (3) when we believe disclosure is appropriate or necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of RONA inc., our customers, or others, including to prevent physical or financial loss or to recover debts you owe; or (4) in connection with an investigation of illegal, suspected, or actual activity.
Sale or transfer of business or assets

RONA inc. retains personal information as long as necessary to process applications, provide and improve our services, protect the legitimate business interests of RONA inc., and as long as required by applicable laws.

Transfer of information outside Quebec
RONA inc. may process and store your personal information at a RONA inc. facility or at a facility of an affiliated company of RONA inc. in Canada and outside Canada, including in the United States of America. Additionally, some of RONA inc.'s service providers, agents, and suppliers are located outside Canada. Information processed in these countries may be subject to access by law enforcement or other government agencies in those countries in accordance with legal orders or procedures.
